JOB SUMMARY:

Provides manual labor following basic routines directed by Street Superintendent to maintain City/Park facilities and city owned property.  Performs mowing and weed eating operations on a weekly rotation throughout the city.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. PERFORM and supervises the cleaning and mowing of all city owned property.

  2. PERFORM maintenance on equipment used in the Park Department.

  3. SAFELY operates equipment.

  4. ABILITY to supervise employees.

  5. COMMUNICATE effectively and courteously with the public, City Council and all City employees.

  6. OPERATE all equipment used in the daily operations of the Park Department.

  7. LIFTS and CARRIES up to 100 pounds, works in inclement weather.

  8. RESPONSIBLE for adherence to the Personnel Policy Manual.

  9. MUST be able to walk, stand and/or sit for extended periods of time.

  10. WORK as part of a team and independently.

  11. ALL OTHER DUTIES as assigned.

OTHER ASPECTS OF THE JOB:

Subject to afterhours call for emergency situations. Must be able to follow oral and/or written instructions.  Performs ball field maintenance for all city ball fields.  Herbicide-Insecticide license.

Qualifications

High School diploma, GED or equivalent. Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 3-5 years of park maintenance and ground keeping; oversee sport leagues; turf management experience.
